Seven of Wands

A man on high ground swings his staff against six wands thrusting up at him from below. His footing is odd — one boot and one shoe — but his position commands the slope.

★ Upright

The Seven of Wands is the defense of won ground — competitors arriving, critics swinging, everyone suddenly wanting the hill you cleared alone. Upright, it backs your stand: you hold the high ground and the advantage, mismatched shoes and all. Defend the position with conviction; success always draws challengers, and outlasting them is a skill.

♺ Reversed

Reversed, the arms tire: overwhelm, ground surrendered to sheer persistence of opposition, or a defensive crouch held long after the attackers went home. Decide which hills are actually yours to keep — and stop defending the ones you never wanted.
