Three of Swords

Three swords pierce a single red heart suspended against gray storm clouds and driving rain. There is nothing else in the picture — the image withholds all comfort except its honesty.

★ Upright

The Three of Swords is heartbreak stated plainly: betrayal, loss, the sentence that cannot be unheard. Upright, its strange mercy is precision — this pain has a name and a cause, and naming it is the first step through. Grieve it as what it is. Storms on this card are weather, not climate.

♺ Reversed

Reversed, the swords are being drawn out: forgiveness beginning, pain talked through instead of around, the storm moving off. It can also warn of a wound kept deliberately open by replaying it. Removing the blade hurts once; leaving it in hurts always.
