The Five of Cups is grief with tunnel vision. Upright, it honors real loss — something did spill, and it mattered — while gently noting the two full cups behind you and the bridge still crossing the river. Mourn thoroughly, but do not confuse the spilled cups for the whole set.

Reversed, the head begins to lift: acceptance, forgiveness, the slow turn from what was lost toward what remains. It marks recovery in progress — or the overdue decision to stop rehearsing an old sorrow that has already taught you everything it knows.
